The pretentious and fickle runway is on hiatus for Heidi Klum who has chosen a more candid and fresh channel - one with kids. The words of babes have always held a fascination for audiences over the years, so it is about time children were showcased being themselves. She will host the show on Lifetime, which airs Tuesdays at 9PM.
Heidi has four of her own tots aged 4-10 at home with her husband and famous recording artist, Seal. She reminisces, "You never really know what you're going to get. They're not actors, I'm not an actress, I'm not a comedian. But that's kind of the challenge."
Heidi says its immense fun to have to answer questions with a straight face and play little pranks like pretending to be the voice of a goldfish, in which the child ended up talking to the goldfish for a half hour. "Obviously, I love children," says Klum, and while her own kids won't appear on the show, she says they're "hilarious."
Heidi isn't batting an eye at filming both this show and "Project Runway," which starts filming in the summer. Although she started in fashion, audiences are happy to see the many facets of her personality shining through with whatever projects she embarks on.
After gracing Victoria's Secret's ads for more than a decade, Heidi made an announcement that she was moving on from the lingerie giant to focus on other projects. The news shocked the fashion world but was carefully planned by Klum.
"It wasn't like I'm going to walk down the runway with my G-string and then the next day I wasn't going to do it anymore. You think about it over the years and you think about how at some point it has to end — I have to do something different; I want to do something different. And the world doesn't end. When someone hangs up their 'wings,' there's always someone new ready to take them. That's just how things are."
She has partnered with Coty Inc. for a new perfume called Heidi Klum Shine and recently designed fashions for Pea in the Pod and Motherhood Maternity. Her talents don't stop there; her jewelry collection, Mouawad, debuted in 2006 and she continues to host shows like "Project Runway" and "Germany's Next Top Model." She also graces the ads of a European cosmetic company, Astor. Being busy hasn't deterred motherhood; she jokes that she still makes time for her PTA meetings.
Audiences can welcome Heidi Klum into their homes every Tuesday night on Lifetime, with children making their starring debut for what is sure to be an adorably hilarious show.
